Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Overview

The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, established in 2008, is a flagship programme of the Institution and is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Tamil Nadu. The department is supported by well-established laboratories including Manufacturing Technology, Machine Shop Practice, Strength of Materials, Thermal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Metrology, and CAD/CAM, equipped with modern tools and CNC machines as prescribed by DOTE norms.

The programme follows best academic practices such as outcome-based teaching–learning processes, continuous internal assessment, mentoring, remedial instruction, and project-based learning. ICT-enabled classrooms and experienced faculty members ensure effective knowledge delivery. Training practices emphasize hands-on skill development through industrial visits, in-plant training, internships, value-added certification programs, and regular interaction with industry professionals.

Diploma engineers of the programme are well prepared for employment in manufacturing, production, maintenance, quality control, automotive, CNC machining, HVAC, and related sectors, and are also eligible for lateral entry into engineering degree programmes, offering strong career and higher education prospects.
